The following images of children’s drawings from Bosnia and Herzegovina have been provided by the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals. These drawings are done by children coming from regions of Bosnia and Herzegovina that were deeply affected by the war in 1992 namely, Sarajevo, Tuzla, and Donji Vakuf.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is severely littered with explosive remnants of war, dating back to the Bosnian war of 1992, which lasted until 1995. During this period, a total of 1,230.70 km² (2.4% of the country’s territory) was mined. As a result, it had a crippling effect on the economy and thousands lost their lives.
